Punk started in the 70's as a offensive, underground rebellion against mainstream pop music. Rock ensambles alike Green Day, Iggy Pop, and Pere Ubu boosted punk rock back in the 90's . This time the mesh of speedy, simple as soap rock with rhytmic pop melodies took hold on radio and MTV. Today, self-styled punk pop is the main piece of puzzle in the sphere of mainstream pop music. These 10 music tracks are fine starting points to grasp punk pop.

1. blink-182 - Enema of the State

In blink-182's inexhaustible endeavour to offend any adults in the locality, that tape featured a girl clothed as an enema au pair on the cover. The punk pop inside is youthful and catchy including the massive hit single “Dumpweed.”

2. The Donnas - Spend the Night

A band from Waldorf, Maryland Good Charlotte blasted into the top 10 of the pop album chart. It is filled with tales of high school and problem parents. The big hit track is “The Anthem.”

4. Green Day - Jesus of Suburbia

After retreating from their mid-90's peak of popularity, Green Day faded to the studio to put together punk rock's first rock opera. Despite the fact that the punk band was anxious about their fanclub's reaction to Jesus of Suburbia, it to be an American rock classic topping the charts and winning an award for Best Rock Album of 2004.
