The twentieth century brought the problem of fuel that people require for heating of their houses in winter period. Such materials as squared timber frameworks and beam carcasses lost their ability to suit the demands of modern energy efficiency. Europeans approved strict rules for heat shielding of buildings that can be supported only owing to efficient heat insulating matters. There are provided various sizes of thicknesses for diverse types of walls. Clinker walls must not be less than 150 centimeters, squared timber walls - 50 centimeters and only 15 centimeters for wooden carcass walls.

In building this method of building is called Canadian. The first frame constructions were built in Canada. The notion “sandwich” that appeared in the early nineties describes this feature of panel constructions.
